jellysphere: UX/UI app design
Project type
UX/UI Concept: App Design
Location
Allendale, MI
Date
March 2025
Role
Designer/Creator
I designed Jellysphere, a concept app that combined my passion for marine life with UX/UI design. The goal was to fill a gap I found in existing products, most jellyfish or aquarium apps are game-based for children or limited to at-home aquariums. Few provide a mature, fact-based, and visually engaging way to learn about jellyfish and ocean awareness.
Guiding Questions:
How might we use the feeling of exploring an aquarium to drive app design?
How might we use the movement and fluidity of jellyfish to shape the app’s flow?
How might we educate users in a way that sparks curiosity and exploration?
Process:
Conducted competitor analysis, created moodboards, and developed personas and content inventories
Built information architecture, wireframes, and low/mid/high-fidelity prototypes in Figma
Designed the visual identity, including logo sketches, animated brand assets, and polished mockups
Focused on creating an ambient, relaxing, and educational user experience blending interaction with storytelling
Outcome:
The final product was a high-fidelity prototype that invited users to learn about jellyfish through thoughtful design and immersive visuals. This project challenged me to apply UX principles across the entire process while staying rooted in a subject I deeply care about, making it one of my most meaningful design experiences so far.
Skills Applied:
